Lagos is a vibrant bustling town on the western side of the Algarve. Its close proximity to the wild Alentejo beaches, Arrifana and its own calmer, family friendly beaches such as the Meia Praia means that the town has quite a “surfy” feel to it. This historic walled town has wonderful features and is full of character. The main road through the town is flanked by the waterway leading to its popular marina area. There are numerous coves and secluded beaches below cliffs to explore on the western side of the town. A wide variety of international and traditional restaurants are peppered around the backstreets of Lagos.
The nightlife is also very good and is enjoyed by many in the area. The golf course overlooking the Meia Praia beach is called Palmares and offers an incredible test to all levels with stunning beach and sea views from the hilltop. Nearby is the famous Sir Henry Cotton designed Penina golf course, which is the oldest golf course in the Algarve. Added to that are the superb golf courses at Espiche and Boavista; so there is plenty of great golf to be enjoyed in the area. The property market in Lagos has been popular for many years and continues to thrive with exciting new investment projects in the area such as the Palmares Resort.
